these are straight from the camera and just a first attempt will show you the rest tomorrow.
much like the drawing this model can be turned around to make two views. This one does not obstruct the views created. Image 1 and 2 are made from the same model.. the middle image is the same model.
this one includes 6 views but i think its abit crude. Need to find a way of integrating the views more
The problem with having the multiple views is that you ruin each view by adding the next one. I not have 4 views in the model but i need to find a way to make it more seamless which I can do my mirroring the view so I have two back to back. The question then become if I have within the axo plans and elevations and not other axos. Will post unbuildable model I made. At the moment I am trying to 3d model something that I think I can physical model.
facade is abit of an issue as I dont have one. I was think about putting eisenmans facades but he does not really have them in the houses either.. might change my word any ideas
New Junction between design and program
This is an update of my drawing, at the moment I am drawing structure which is the bottom right which is in section. The other one I am working on is the top left which is facade I am going to take out the windows and replace them with Eisenman facades I think. I have also added the book and split the large site drawing.
I have been reading about the history of words within architecture. these are the ones I have chosen. I think i need to put them into categories.. Please add more words if you can think of any.
I have also changed the drawing I showed on Friday to they tile in all directions. I am now going to make some sketched of the plates for the some of the words I have chosen. will update later.
I am not sure about this one I think I like the old one better. I need to get over this whole building idea.
I know this does not really have anything to do with my project, at least I do not think so, but this is the axo drawing I am working on in model format. I notised when I was panning around it that it is quite interesting when I rotated around it. It also allows you to understand the section and elevation of the building, but not the whole building

Was just looking back through my drawings and noticed this sketch by Natasha, just though I would blog it as my favourite sketch ever. I think I may know what it means but on the other hand I have no idea.
cube – my building – bullshit -dumb
The language of reduction… this is a silly photoshop I made to take a break from drawing… some of the titles architects give there buildings to make them more understandable for the client.
Beginnings of section elevation axo drawing…. I have decided to make the columns the inhabitable space within the mausoleum. I have also made is much much bigger it is now 222m cubed which is scary.
In order to define what I mean by language in architecture or text and architecture. I think I need to define in my own terms what that means. My idea is to make a set of drawing from existing texts, extracting a spatial grammer. I am going to use Eisenman references by doing this I will be talking about Eisenman without Eisenman. This set of drawings will then be the language that I use to inform my architecture and what i mean by language. By doing this I will also be killing my father (Eisenmans way of explaining his relationship with Rowe) because the references will become my own. Sketches and initial ideas to come.
I have compiled this list
- Sol Lewitt
…so because I am going to try and blog everyday. I have no idea why. This is where I am i have changed the quote”ikea looking bookshelves” and moved the house and added more eisenman models.
First very bad should not be blogged sketch of next steps. I was thinking to explain what i mean when i say that the author come with baggage. he or she can never be viewed in isolation i will zoom into the book shelf which will show Eisenman and his references. in the open book will be an image of house two which we will enter and through frames windows ect we will see other project related to this one. The authored will be surrounded by its references. I am not really happy with this though think it needs some work. I need to work out how to transition back into the mausoleum. Not really sold by what I have posted AT ALL.
painterly iso reference
I have updated it since the last blog. Let me know what you think I agree about the hatches ect ect but I will do those in illustrator at the moment I am trying to tile the drawing together which I think I have figured out. What I have done is use the grid of the building as the reference points so that all the drawing tile together. So the building plan is always embedded in the drawing, bit cheesy maybe but seemed logical. That was even though you will never see the plan or elevation it is codified in the drawing. I think I might move the Eisenman up and i am going to add floor boards. Will update with the tile-able drawings later on.
test 1- in this one I begin to show the upper levels, the scale is the same as the house
test 2 – i have upped the scale and moved it down to show the upper level
test 3- in this one i have upped the scale but have chosen not to show the upper level
Drawing I showed at my tutorial.
I think that test 2 is the best tbh the question is does it give to much of the building away?
ground plan +1m
mid level +20 m
top level plan +26m
after tutorial have decided to make it abit bigger do that the columns are 3m wide. The top level has become one room with the tomb to the author in the middle. I have also moved the grave stones inside the building. This has changed the site/ big drawing also. Will blog that later…
I think the room of the author should be the last image that I show. In that room you will see the only image you will ever see of my whole building. On the wall will be my references, Eisenman, Evans, maybe Perec but I have kinda lost him and Barthes. This room will show me as the author and everything that encompasses my projects. At the moment I am questions if the project should be drawn in axo and only axo. By drawing in axo it does limit the way in which I design the project.

I think that I need to decide wether or not I make my project more centered around Eisenman or not. Questions a dimension of Eisenman, ie language, but more through Eisenman and not through the mausoleum which is not really working or not yet. At the moment I am floating around him neither getting involved nor ignoring. I am tempted to go the Eisenman route at the moment but that might just be me not being able to let go of my recon….
fist attempt at this drawing that sits between axo and perspective its very crude atm

Tagged axo, Grid
In the spirit of the initial puzzles I made where they created themselves, the mausoleum can be turned on it head to create a form of the city, ie it can be viewed in many ways creating different forms from themselves. I am trying to include both these ideas in my Valene, or super drawing. I am just not sure they are working. As you can see the are two sets of column grids one that goes upwards out of the ground plane and the other that goes downwards with the idea that you can turn this part of the drawing round. Any thoughts I dont think it is working.obviously i need to get rid of the trees ect but I think the change from Axo to worms eye Axo is strange. Maybe i should turn it round and move it to make another drawing.
rhino screen shot. started to collage Eisenmans axonometrics, or index, into the life created for the other building. Abit like Valene’s painting of the block of flats in Life A Users Manual this drawing is of all the events that have happened surounding the building and my research into it.
Some quotes I have compiled from various thing I have read about Life.
” The formal underpinnings of Perec’s novel took shape as an elaborate puzzle he had to complete, and this sense of gamesmanship and ludic pleasure passes into the hands of a reader who tried to decode and reassemble the textual puzzle… Perec’s text recursive in a specific Oulipian sense; it inscribes its own processes of production into its images, themes, and content, and also implicates readers in a potentially endless self-referential game of solving the textual puzzle.”
Perec has said that ” a system of constrains must contain anti constraint built into it giving the system some free play as the phrase goes… one needs a clinamen”
“Materials are fed into the matrix of the text itself constituted by selected materials, and the combinatoric game ensues. From these processes qualitatively new forms arise, without an external seed or origin; the new forms arise, without an external seed or origin; he new form then shapes microscopic sequences and combinations”
I think the middle one is the best but need a bit more work / maybe better camera than my iphone.
Lost in conversation with everyone.
Also questioning if i should included photographs of the clients??

I listened to a lecture with Kipnis and Eisenman today and Kipnis said something very interesting about Eisenmans drawings… in reference to the image bellow he said.
‘ you don’t have to know what it means , in fact its particularly interesting as an icon precisely because you don’t know what it means. But you are guaranteed by the erudition of its process that it means something to very few people and its to obscure for you to know. So it creates a kind of obscurism effect as a cultural enterprise know to us.’
He said this when talking about Eisenmans axo diagrams calling the houses ‘buildings about drawings’.
