If I’m using hoarding as a canvas for smithsonesque mirrored sculptural interventions, what is the strategy of these interventions?
It could be used to disappear the unimaginable parts of the city (the ruins, ruins in reverse) or to reveal them. If it is used as a way of eliminating the ‘anti-sites’ than perhaps the ‘mirror city’ is the city between the tour bus city and the city of residents, making a concentric ring city. Perhaps this ‘border city’ contains the new monuments which are to be added to the tour bus city.
OR The hoarding could be the portal that links the two cities, or it could create the illusion of being in a continuous city when there are actually two cities intertwined.
Natasha or anyone–comments?
