Unfolding the wall story

casa_malaparte-01

Malaparte’s use of the wall to level the ground to build on

Working on the chronology of walls from the primitive wall to the retaining wall to the territorial wall to the inhabited walls to the decorated wall.

I found this image of a diagram of the development of MVRDV’s double house in Utrecht which is based on Corbs Unite d’habitation section. I can’t see to run away from the Dutch Continuous Surface.

Fortress City

I need a clear reasoning for WHY the London Wall is being resurrected, why it is relevant in today’s society, and what it is critiquing.

[we live in] a dinstinctively post-metropolitan mode of urban development… ideologies are reorganizing a post-metropolitan mode of social and spatial regulation.

[This is] addressed by looking at the intensification of social and spatial control brought about by new developments in the privatization, policing, surveillance, governance, and design of the built environment and the political geography of city space. Responding to what Mike Davis has described as an endemic ecology of fear, the postmetropolitan landscape has become filled with many different types of protected and fortified spaces, islands of enclosure, and anticipated protection against the real and imagined dangers of daily life.
