1000 Londons



By recognizing the city within the city, the question is posed “how do we collapse moments of the urban territory into iterations of the city?”  Those who build the city, as well as those who live in the city and even those who only come to experience it, all have a role in parsing out these individual cities.  The selection and inevitable reduction of points and places is extremely personal but also unavoidably social and political.  As is what we choose to add as architects.  These versions of the city that we create for ourselves and others is the crux of how we, as designers, approach, change, and build the city, ultimately generating the next city within the city.
