comments and additions would be amazing
I have sent the long drawing off to be printed now I am now working on the perspex drawings.
please comment on the bellow
bad iphone photo of model in progress
will be updating blog with the long images all night as I am planning on sending them to print in the morning, I will then get them for friday tutorial.
have finished the layers drawings for review in the tute and my test print should be ready to pick up at 11. For the moment I am trying to finish to the best of my ability the long prints so they can be looked at as well. But they are starting to become very heavy and abit hard to work with.
these will become the layers of the perspex drawing. I had to go back into rhino and change them abit because they were not lining up. I will now begin to colour them and add the shadows ect.
I am wondering if I should have more than 4 layers. more things that stay the same in all drawings.
re working this drawing have changed the left facade because the perspective was wrong. I have also added many more details around the room and hope to add more than the ones currently in the drawing. Also working on the shadows.
any comments would be great. Also I feel like the new drawing which I am about to colour needs more in it. Any ideas. I thought I might put a half finished wire tree on its side in the left hand corner but apart from that I have no ideas. Maybe some more warping?
testing the gloss windows
testing the gloss windows
in this drawings i have made 2 layers- the inside and the outside
graham used some crazy map program to make me this unrolled version of my drawing for the large drawing. Its crazy
also if only my model worked like this ikea ad
I have no idea how I am going to get this beast into school or where I will put it if I manage to get it in without breaking it.
Me and Cat have been playing with perspex all Easter.I have been dyeing the perspex to make photo filters and various things for my model.
This is the new extension to the model as you go out of the plan room you will go through some trees and into another room in plan- not quite sure what to put in that room yet but I am working on it.
will change in line with comments now i aim to print today- and do presentation tm. comments welcome
wondering if the mug and pencil and book are to subtle. I will now add the scaffold to hold up the council flat and in the moon circle i will add the circle mirror reflecting maybe the whole room if i can draw it in time. any thoughts
working on trying to redesign the long hosing building- bit confused if this is the same building as the model or another building so have not put anything inside it yet
quick test shot with photoshopped backdrop and photograph of bit and bobs i did not finish in time for ts photographs ready for filming the model.
sorry iphone photographs better ones to come. Working on my book until later tonight when I will go back to painting and glueing
this is a snapshot of what i have done cannot seam to upload the .mov file keeps crashing. So this is just part of a very very long door. computer controlled camera and lazy susan to come. I have also made a time line of what I want to do for Ts.
i have been working on my model / stage set the sketches so the different models I plan to make at the moment. Have started to model them in Rhino so I can laser cut next week. I am trying to model transition moments where the scale changes so it looks like the camera is zooming but really it is the model that is changing not the camera… it is proving to be more difficult than i thought. the red arrows are the camera movements around the model… which i think may turn into a dome. i also cannot stop singing you spin me right round baby right round ect ect
Barbra told me at the beginning of the year to use what she called crowd sourced colours or colours that consisted on many different colours. I just did not really understand what she was talking about… she told me to use xerox textures. But today I saw these illustrations which I think are really nice so might have a go. I want to make a drawing that is between my model and reality so half my model half the city- probably some kind or section maybe I do not really know yet- i am also going to try and incorporate the Hogarth feel so make the drawing wrong in its perspective. The illustrations are also lineless which I still want to think about. But i think more importantly they do have amazing colours i also like that they are fragments and feel very deserted…. oh and be radical….I am trying to be radical
photographs are taken with my really bad camera borrowing grahams camera tonight to take some photographs- probably will not be lit very well because they will be taken at my house but I will bring the camera and model to the ts so they can look through the camera and see the correct angle.
curved back walls
Straight Back Walls
sorry for rubbish render quality- trying to work out which is better straight or curved- curved looks better I think but will be harder to make because I presume that means any furniture will also have to be curved in the front and back which might prove annoying.
In this model I tested different camera focal lengths – 18mm focal length is the best – or the smallest I have on my camera. In this set i tested if the back walls should be curved or straight, I used different camera angles to see if that made a difference to. in this set of models I tested what happens if you change the angle of the walls so I know what it looks like all photographs taken with 18mm focal length.
making a larger set of rooms and it is getting quite confusing now. Esp the stair that took me ages and I still am not sure it is correct with the perspective.
final back to production I enjoy. this is the beginning on a lineless drawing of the line- I have just been drawing a not thinking much about why but more what looks good i suppose. any comments welcome.
two sides of the same line is a possible title
…i not cannot stop using cliches Oliver you have ruined me… and made my week and got me out of my rut all at the same time….
this is the deep facade- I have tried to accentuate all elements within the facade. this is just three bays and not the whole building- this side has more alliance with the video on the flip side this is the flat facade which looks the same but has been flattened into a 20cm deep space as you can see in the first image. this side being flat talks about the non hierarchical nature of things some more akin to the blender.
Obv they are both rhino screen shots and not drawings yet but they will make up the beginning of the two sides in the glass drawing I was talking about. The next part I am going to model is when the flat and the deep face each other- I think there will be a number of slits in the buildings which will force this. I think this will take the form of half lineless and half very lined.
The line will not cross through buildings anymore but I still think it should be sited in a political location because I want it to be somewhat violent. What about an extension of downing street. It is both political and I do not have to cut any buildings.
from the very big 3km – from bank to parliament square
to the smaller 1.5km – from the museum of London to the royal court of justice
this model is trying to solidify the final image in the film. Its a test and I have done it in a way I would not really normally make a mold with mod roc because school is not open. It has crumbled abit but I will try and fix it when the plaster has dried. I was going to paint the cast which i still might do but it has given me another idea. I think I will make another one when school is open and I can laser cut the form and volume form the mold but I hope it shows some intention.
On another note i found this very cool link when I might try as my next installation
TS table of Contents
the initial installation
1.1 Albertis Geometry
– the Plane and its creating lines
1.2 The architectural line
– Mirrored Buildings – one point perspective
2.1 Linear perspective
– Alberti on Brunelleschi
2.2 360 domed projection
– Fish eye
– Hemisphere projection
– The monument project – 360 mirror surface on the top of Monument
– Domed projection
– Stereographic Projection
– fish eye vs stereographic
2.3 From one point to 360
– detailing the video
-2D Material and it uses ( as a side it quite interesting because it is classed as a 2d material and thus the ultimate plane because it has no width but is a material.)
– Possible uses
– My Veneer – if it works.
PS. something very strange happened when I copied it from pages sorry about that.
test animation from one point perspective to 360 view. Will now add in my room and begin trying to make the most realistic render I can

i have been writing my thesis all day which I think I final have a title for, from nature to composition Peter Eisenman and De Stijl and it got me to thinking about this drawing. Its a reaction again my relentless drawing of the axo. Last year the axo became my context, drawing them, modelling them, questioning them. If this it to be true of the lineless for it to become the thing that I question from it nature to its eventual demise then I need to also find a form of representation that best suits it, to become my new context. I dont think it is the circle but I am not sure I want it to be the non rotated axo either.
all the set ups are done I will now spend my fine writing my text and finessing the video and images for printing. I think I am going to print 8 of the 30 photoshops the Dura drawing and one Demand. I now need to also find a way of turning playing the video without having to touch the ipad. If i have to play it from the ipad everything is ruined.
I am going to change the set up slightly now I have thought about it more carefully . I am still going to have the three steps but they will be presented slightly differently.
Sorry about the bad sketch so behind a screen I will have the council flat model.(far right drawing) behind another screen I will have the fake laptop with stuff surrounding it(middle). This laptop will be playing the video I have made of the council flats gaining back there particulars there context and materiality. This will be videoed live.
This live video of the laptop will then be back projected onto paper(not behind a screen-far left). After the video is played I will unveil the other two translations and the fact it is being played live. I think this makes far more sense because now the step is different than the one before.
I hope now I am beginning to question the relationship between objects/ artefacts and representation. Blurring them and unveiling them and questions the truth of the like for like representation. So using Alberti’s questions ( wanting to replicate like for like) and questioning them with Demands tools.
screen shot of final 10 seconds of film
I am now working on making it real.
The recon will consist of three main translations.
1. The model with a camera and tripod to view it.
2. The paper laptop and paraphernalia playing the video of the first model becoming “real”. I will make a laptop coffee cup, coke cans, sweat wrappers ect ect to stage the video.
3. A video of the laptop playing the video projected onto a canvas or paper.
I will then have stills from the film printed, and maybe the initial images i made the model from
